Academic Requirements
Graduation Credit Requirements
Starting from the 111th academic year, the graduation requirement for our department has been adjusted to 131 credits. This includes 66 required credits, 18 professional elective credits, 19 free elective credits, and 28 general education credits. In addition, students are required to complete 4 zero-credit Physical Education courses and 1 zero-credit Service Learning course.
| Category | Credits | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Professional Courses (Required) | 66 | In principle, restricted to courses offered by the department's faculty. If a student must take a course offered by non-departmental faculty or a graduate-level course for other reasons, approval from both the department's course instructor and the instructor of the chosen course is required. |
| Professional Electives | 18 | Restricted to courses offered by the department's faculty. Any credits earned beyond the required number can be counted towards free elective credits. |
| Free Electives | 19 | Students may take professional elective courses offered by this department, or elective courses from other departments (including Education programs and Language Center programs). |
| General Education Credits | 28 | Excess general education credits cannot be counted towards free elective credits or total graduation credits. |
Other Graduation Requirements
In addition to completing the above credit requirements, students must also fulfill the following criteria to be eligible for graduation:
- Complete 4 zero-credit Physical Education courses.
- Complete 1 zero-credit Service Learning course.
- Complete the required service hours stipulated by the Center for General Education.
